iGaming growth pushes Denmark gambling revenue to USD 107 million in May

(Denmark).- Driven by strong growth in the online casino segment, Denmark’s gambling revenue rose by 19.6% in May compared to the same month last year. The country also saw a modest increase from April, signaling continued momentum in the digital gaming market.

Total market revenue for May reached DKK683 million ($107 million), according to national regulator Spillemyndigheden. This was also 2.7% more than the figure reported in April this year and the highest monthly total so far in 2025.
Online casino generated the most revenue at DKK389 million, a year-on-year rise of 39.9%. Slots drew DKK323.4 million, or 83.1% of all revenue in this sector during the month.
Internet blackjack accounted for 6.4% of online casino revenue in May. Next was roulette with 5%, with the remaining amount split across poker, bingo and other games.
Elsewhere, sports betting revenue reached DKK154 million, which was slightly less than in 2024. Mobile wagering drew 64.3% of all revenue during the month, with desktop share at 22.6% and retail stores 13.1%.
Land-based gambling bounces back in Denmark
Turning to the land-based gambling market, physical slot machines drew DKK105 million in monthly revenue in May. This was 8.3% ahead of the previous year, with machines in gaming halls generating 79.7% of the total. The other 20.3% came from units placed in restaurants.
This was in contrast to April’s figures, which showed a 3.6% year-on-year drop in revenue in this sector. Incidentally, May’s revenue total surpassed the DKK93 million reported in April by 12.9%.
As for land-based casino revenue, this was level at DKK32 million for the month. Meanwhile, retail bingo revenue reached DKK3 million, with no year-on-year comparison available.
Self-exclusion list surpassed 62,000
Denmark’s regulator also published data on the ROFUS self-exclusion scheme. By the end of May, a total of 62,284 people had signed up for it.
Of all registrants, 78.5% are male and 21.5% female. Some 63.5% have opted for permanent exclusion from gambling in Denmark, 16.4% for six months, 12.1% for three months and 8.1% one month.
